What does the procedure feel like?

What can I expect before the treatment?

You will not need any gel, anesthetic creams or ice prior to treatment. Before the procedure, you will be asked to remove any make-up or moisturizers.

How many treatments will I need?

Every patient's condition and needs vary. On average, you may require 4 to 6 treatments to achieve optimal results.

What are the possible side effects?

Most patients report few or any side effects. The most common is a slight redness that disappears within a few hours of treatment.

What is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) 560?

IPL offers the advantages of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging skin and damage from the sun i.e. brown residue, freckles and "liver spots", as well as acne and rosacea. It also will stimulate collagen improving the skins elasticity. IPL 560 produces a carefully defined spectrum of light which is designed to reduce or eliminate the redness of the skin which is a result from sun damage and/or from rosacea. The result is an effective skin rejuvenation treatment with minimal discomfort.

What areas can be treated?

The IPL 560 is ideal for any part of your body with sun damage and age spots. The face, neck, shoulders, arms and legs are the most popular areas for treatment due to the most sun exposure.

What do IPL treatments feel like?

When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required. Gel is recommended to cool the skin before treatments.

How many treatments will I need?

One to four treatments are usually sufficient to see results. Additional treatments may be recommended especially for excessively sun damaged skin.

What happens after the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment, brown spots will darken and your skin will appear slightly red. The treated area may be slightly swollen. Typically, this last a few hours and possibly a day or longer. Make-up can be applied to cover the redness.

What areas can be treated?

Patients report excellent results over their face and neck. This treatment can also diminish scars on other parts of the body.

When will I see results?

The majority of patients will see results within one to three weeks. The dark spots will flake off and fade. The redness will decrease and your complexion will improve.

Will the spots reappear over time?

Newer spots may appear with new sun exposure however they too can be treated. Remember to always apply sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots.
